What is Non-Shaven FUE hair transplantation?
Typically, hair transplantation requires shaving the back of the head to select the strongest and most viable hair grafts for transplanting into bald or thinning areas. However, there’s now a technique suitable for those who prefer not to shave their hair—Non-Shaven FUE. In this method, the doctor evaluates and calculates the required grafts, then trims only the selected grafts short to facilitate extraction. This means the donor area remains intact and aesthetically pleasing, allowing patients to maintain their daily lifestyle without disruption.
Advantages of Non-Shaven FUE
- No need to shave the donor area
- Wounds are hidden within the hair, making them invisible post-op
- No surgery required—virtually scar-free
- Minimal recovery time
- Patients can resume normal activities immediately after the procedure
Disadvantages of Non-Shaven FUE
- Longer procedure time compared to standard methods
- Higher cost than conventional techniques
- Requires consultation and registration with the doctor
Non-Shaven FUE Procedure Steps

Step 1: The doctor begins by planning the treatment, designing a hairline that suits the patient’s facial structure, selecting strong follicles from the occipital area, and calculating the number of grafts needed for transplantation.

Step 2: The patient’s hair is washed with antiseptic shampoo to cleanse the scalp. Local anesthesia is administered along the planned area, followed by a sedative. Once the anesthesia takes effect, the patient will feel no sensation in the scalp.

Step 3: Using a specialized tool (only 0.8 mm in diameter), the doctor extracts the hair follicle cells from the designated donor area. These cells are then placed in a nutrient solution to preserve their integrity.

Step 4: Under a microscope, the doctor examines the extracted follicle cells and trims them for optimal use.

Step 5: Once the grafts are prepared, the doctor creates recipient sites in the target area according to the pre-designed hairline.

Step 6: The grafts are then implanted into the recipient area, with careful attention to positioning, hair direction, and strand thickness to ensure the most natural-looking results.
